What does the true cost of ownership include?
Finance interest, running costs and the value the asset loses while you own it. For many assets, depreciation and insurance add more than people expect.
How is Luxury Car Tax worked out?
Luxury Car Tax applies to cars priced above the ATO threshold for the financial year. The calculator uses the ATO's current thresholds; your dealer or accountant can confirm the amount for a specific purchase.
Do classic cars lose value like other cars?
Not always. Some classics hold or grow in value while others fall. Values depend on the model, condition, provenance and market, so use conservative estimates.
Can I include business use?
The calculator shows the cost before tax. If the asset is used for business, speak with your accountant about deductions and GST.
